On May 26th, 2016, the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) of the Blood Tribe Police Service conducted a traffic stop on the Blood reserve. As a result of the traffic stop enough evidence was present to arrest the occupants of the vehicle and search the vehicle and persons. Police located Canadian Currency, Fentanyl pills and cocaine in the vehicle. Two occupants in the vehicle were charged with offences related to drug trafficking. Both occupants were later released with conditions to attend court in Cardston Provincial court and not to attend the town site in Standoff.
Seized:
- 21 grams of suspected crack cocaine (Street Value in Standoff of $2100)
- 20 Fentanyl pills (Street value $1000)
Tia Lynn BLOOD- DOB: 1988/01/17 of Standoff, Alberta, Amber Jean DAY CHIEF - DOB: 1989/01/27 of Lethbridge, Alberta; were charged with the following:
- Possession of proceeds obtained by a crime under $5000
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl
