Crime Reduction Unit

Two members are allocated to the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU). They are responsible for the investigation of serious crimes and drug enforcement. CRU is a support section that assists in, but not limited to, violent crimes, crime analysis, property crimes, serious habitual offenders, special operations, criminal intelligence and economic crimes.

CRU members take on multiple roles, such as Domestic Violence Coordinator, ViCLAS Coordinator, SORCA Coordinator and Crime Analyst.

The Blood Tribe Police Service is a full member of the Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta (CISA) and this section has direct involvement with CISA. CRU members also have a position within ALERT’s CFSE Unit and work closely with surrounding agency to fight organized crime.
