MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISSEMINATION: April 20, 2016
On April 19th, 2016, the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) of the Blood Tribe Police Service responded to a call for service at a residence in the community of Standoff, AB. An investigation at the residence lead to the arrest of 3 individuals and the seizure of a significant amount of illicit drugs and cash. All three were charged with offences related to drug trafficking. Two individuals were released with conditions, while one was remanded in custody.
Seized:
- 3 ounces of suspected crack cocaine (Street Value in Standoff of $4000)
- 16 fentanyl pills (Street value $800)
- Bear Mace, Brass Knuckles, Machete
- Canadian currency ($1240)
- Small amount of marijuana
1. Accused: Bradley Jay ROASTING of Calgary, AB
Remanded to appear April 22, 2016 @ Lethbridge Provincial Court
Charges:
Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine;
Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl;
Possession of proceeds of crime;
Possession of Marijuana;
Possession of a weapon;
Possession of a prohibited device.
2. Accused: Nona Marie WELLS of Standoff, AB
Released on recognizance to appear May 9, 2016 @ Cardston Provincial Court
Charges:
Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine;
Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl;
Possession of Marijuana.
3. Accused: Katrina Annaleise BERTSCH of Calgary, AB
Released on recognizance to appear May 9, 2016 @ Cardston Provincial Court
Charges:
Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine;
Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl;
Possession of Marijuana.
Nona WELLS and Katrina BERTSCH were released with conditions not to attend the Blood Reserve.
