MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISSEMINATION: May 18, 2016

RE: National Prescription Drug Drop-Off day.

This initiative, led nationally by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, and provincially by the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police will help communities keep these drugs out of the hands of those who should not have them. The misuse and abuse of prescription medications has become a public safety issue for communities and police services across the country. The abuse of prescription medications can lead to incidents of overdose and in some cases, death.

Blood Tribe Police Service in partnership with Blood Tribe Prescription Drug Project will be Hosting Medication take back week from May 24th to May 27th, 2016.

Blood Tribe Police Service and Blood Tribe Prescription Drug Project will be going house to house in Moses Lake and Lavern on Tuesday May 24th, 2016 collecting unused or expired prescriptions.

Blood Tribe Police Service and Blood Tribe Prescription Drug Project will be going house to house in Standoff on Wednesday May 25th, 2016

On Thursday May 26th, 2016 there will be presentations at each of the schools on the Blood Reserve.

On Friday May 27th, 2016 an information session with a pharmacist will take place at the Blood Tribe Administration Building in the Tipi Room from 10:00am to 1:00 pm which will be followed by a BBQ. Everyone is welcome to attend these events.
