Arrest of an Edmonton man in Standoff

On Monday, July 25, 2016, Blood Tribe Police Service (BTPS) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), with the assistance of BTPS Community Policing Division arrested Dakota Aaron LADEROUTE, age 19 of the Edmonton area, in the Townsite area of Standoff, Alberta on the Blood Indian Reserve. Investigation at the scene lead to a seizure of a significant amount of illicit drugs and cash.
Seized:
- 8.8 grams of suspected Crack Cocaine (Street Value in Standoff of $880.00)
- 7 tablets of suspected Diazepam (Street Value in Standoff of $100.00)
- 17 Fentanyl pills (Fake Oxy 80’s) (Street Value in Standoff $850.00)
- 4 tablets of suspected Oxycodone(Street Value in Standoff $80.00)
- $2490.00 cash
Dakota Aaron LADEROUTE was arrested at the scene and charged with the noted offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl [Section 5(2) CDSA],
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine [Section 5(2) CDSA],
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Diazepam [Section 5(2) CDSA],
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Oxycodone [Section 5(2) CDSA],
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime [Section 354(1) (a) C.C.],
- Identity Fraud [Section 403(d) C.C.],
- Obstruction of a Peace Officer [Section 129(a) C.C.].
Dakota Aaron LADEROUTE also had 5 warrants for his arrest from the Edmonton Police Service.
Dakota Aaron LADEROUTE was remanded in custody to appear in court on Thursday, July 28, 2016, in Lethbridge, Alberta for a bail hearing via CCTV.
