Traffic Stop Yields Fentanyl, Cocaine and Codeine

MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISSEMINATION

On February 27th, 2017 the Blood Tribe Police Service Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) conducted a traffic stop in Standoff, Alberta, resulting in two females being arrested for Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, cocaine, and codeine.

The following was seized as a result of the investigation:

BTPS Evidence
  • 75 Fentanyl Tablets (Oxy 80)
  • 27 Grams of Crack Cocaine
  • 23 Tylenol 3 Tablets (Codeine)
  • 5 Cell Phones
  • 1 Digital Scale
  • 1 Vehicle 2012 Dodge Caravan
  • $25.00 Cash
  • Various Prescription medications in unmarked containers



Karen YOUNG PINE [1964-03-04] a resident of the Blood Reserve was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Codeine
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime


Karen YOUNG PINE was wanted out Lethbridge Police Service on various outstanding warrants. The warrants were executed at the time of the arrest.



Cynthia YOUNG PINE [1978-12-09] a resident of the Blood Reserve was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking codeine
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime



A Judicial Interim Release hearing was conducted and Karen YOUNG PINE and Cynthia YOUNG PINE were released by a Justice of the Peace on a Recognizance with conditions to appear in Cardston Provincial Court Monday, April 3rd, 2017.
