Blood Tribe Police Service has acquired two solar-powered radar

The Blood Tribe Police Service has acquired two solar-powered radar units to assist with traffic safety in the community. This was possible through funding from the Alberta Traffic Safety Fund. These units will be placed throughout the reserve to educate the motoring public on the speed zones. It is important to note that these units are not photo radar units as they simply flash the speed of vehicles travelling over the posted speed limit. The speed will be displayed with a flashing light on top and designed to bring awareness of the posted speed. The Blood Tribe Police Service has identified the need for these signs as an educational device to assist the motoring public to their surroundings, particularly in low speed zones such as school zones and the 60 zone along. Highway 2 and BTA road as there is a high number of pedestrians crossing the highway.
