Blood Tribe Police Commission

The Blood Tribe Police Commission has hired Kyle Melting Tallow as the Chief of Police for the Blood Tribe Police Service. Kyle Melting Tallow had been the acting Chief of Police for the past two years. After a lengthy and thorough process, he was the successful candidate to assume the role of Chief of Police.

He began his career in 1998 with Siksika Police Service, spent four years with TsuuTina Police Service until joining BTPS in 2006 as a Constable. He was promoted to Senior Constable in 2007, Sergeant in 2008, Staff Sergeant in 2012, Inspector in 2014 and Deputy Chief in early 2016. Kyle became the Acting Chief of Police in July 2016 and has recently been selected as the successful candidate to become BTPS Chief of Police. Kyle is the first ever member, to rise through the ranks of BTPS. Historically, we have had Chiefs of Police who have spent the majority of their careers in other services. Kyle has extensive experience in many areas of policing, including: operations, professional standards, administration and use of force. He is the recipient of the BTPS Long Service Medal as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee. Kyle is currently in a Master of Art's in Leadership program, with Royal Roads University. He is originally from Siksika. Kyle and his wife Jenn, have three young children.
